dreams come true
about us!
We are an 18+, close-knit, semi-private roleplay community that's currently looking for new members!Although the main hub of the industry is currently set in Seoul, South Korea, there are canons available that operate out of other countries, including Japan and China. While the majority of events focus on the Asian entertainment industry, there is no limit on who your characters can be. From baristas to world-famous actors and musicians, they all come together with DCT’s connected and intricate plotting styles and systems, as well as the reputation & fame system which can bring in-character consequences and achievements. We are a unique community that focuses on character development and interconnected stories. It can feel a little intimidating at first because, unlike other [equally valid] communities, almost every character on DCT can play "Six Degrees of Song-Kwon" [It's okay if you don't get that reference yet, trust me, you will!] Although that means there is already active lore, we are great at explaining [feel free to ask Wes to yap about almost any plot or character you have questions about] and love weaving new characters into the fold.We take pride in being beginner friendly, and quite a few of our current member base didn't have experience with a variety of things: forum roleplay, the added Discord aspect, and even roleplaying in general! If you like writing, shipping, and East Asian entertainment, we would love to welcome you into our community and guide you however we can!
But if you were wondering about our ideal member...‣ We have lax activity rules, preferring making sure that you've been developing plots and characters over specific word counts. This means that you control the amount of writing you do. Multiple of our members prefer writing long form content on our forum while some prefer to stick strictly to the communication server and 1x1 development with their partners. We welcome, and love, both types of roleplayers!‣ We call ourselves a community instead of a site or server because that's what we've become. Some of us have known each other for years [or even live together] and some of us met very recently. However, we're all very social and share aspects of our lives with each other in an attempt to form deep friendships as well as fun plots. We totally get it, some people just want to write and don't enjoy the social aspect of roleplay. We're not judging, but we're probably not the community for you!‣ We encourage our member base to focus on their real lives when necessary, including if it means leaving us. However, a lot of the members of DCT like planning out long-term plots since we have the comfort of knowing that we're not rushed for time: the site has been open for five years and has no desire to close any time soon.‣ Finally, our member base is made up of many identities, and we want all of them to feel protected with us. Due to that, we are not the community for you if you are racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, or hard right-leaning.

what is roleplay exactly?
I like to explain this brand of roleplay as collaborative writing. You can also think of it like a text-based choose-your-own-adventure type game. In essence, it's a chance for you to develop your own original character and then plotting out relationships, careers, and even scandals with other writers. Before you decide if you want to join us, you'll want to fully read our handbook. This will be your handy dandy guide as you learn about the site, our rules, and our site culture. If you have any questions after reading, please feel free to reach out to staff on our Discord. For DCT specifically, we'll ask you to develop your character by creating and filling out a profile on our forum. The profile will ask for character details, such as interests and aesthetics. This is where face claims come in. A face claim is a celebrity that you choose to visually represent your character. A distinctive note is that you are not playing the celebrity but instead playing an original character with the face you would cast to play them in a movie. There is a claim list that shows which face claims are already taken, but you can always ask if someone is willing to twin the face. As long as both members are happy to share, we are happy to allow it. However, please do not judge or badger anyone who prefers not to twin. It is their choice and neither choice is wrong.Another section of your profile that you will need to complete is a shipper. The shipper is where you will provide details on how your character builds relationships and what dynamics you're looking to play out. You'll learn fast that this is sometimes the most important part of the profile when you're trying to make connections with other characters. The last section is called a freeform. A freeform is a piece of writing to explain your character to us. There is no set format you have to follow, although we do recommend including as much thought into each character that you can. If we can't get a great feel for your character, we may pend the profile while we talk to you about our thoughts. Being pended never means that you've done something wrong or that anyone is upset at you. In fact, I think almost every member of our site has been pended at least once, including the staff. We just want to help you develop your writing and characterization and will work with you as often as you need during the process. If you want to get a stronger idea of what exactly you would need to write on your profile, you're always welcome to ask our community or look through the profiles of already accepted characters. We're always happy to help if you have any questions!Once your profile has been accepted you can start plotting and writing with other members. You will be invited to our communications server and be given a titled section where you can create threads to act as your character's texting, dm'ing, dating-apping, selfie-posting hub.Another option that opens up for you is threading on our forum. Threads are longer form, third-person posts with yourself as a form of character-development or with others for collaborative writing and event winning. If you have any questions, please feel free to pop into our Discord and ask us! Even if you don't end up staying, we're happy to help someone give something new a try!

our unique system
DCT currently works on a hybrid system where both Discord and Jcink are utilized for writing and roleplaying. Due to this, we require you have a completed profile on the forum and be a member of two Discord servers, our general Discord and a server for in character communication posting. The Jcink site is utilized for character profiles and applications, canons, claims, and will house the majority of threading and events. Discord is utilized for plotting, member feedback and support, communication threads, live action chats, and member-lead events.A big bonus to this style is the option to roleplay in real time (although it's not required!) as well as the ease of access to threads and minimal formatting, including on mobile. We know it's not the norm in the roleplay community, but it's what works for us! We understand that this won't be everyone's style, but all of our current members really enjoy this system and a few have said they cannot imagine doing comms any other way now.Although most of the threading and events happen on our forum, there are also special member ran events in our Discord that include interactive features like outfit and headcanon posts, group plotting opportunities, a replacement for group threading if that's not your thing, and every once in awhile a live action chat or event-based game.Other events take place on the forum and usually reward posting in threads or development threads on site. They range from K-pop survival shows and reality television to holiday festivals and development challenges. Each post you make on the forum grants you points that you can use to buy in a store that offers special offers and the ability to buy more character packs. Sometimes, events will offer prizes such as double points, special badges to display on your profile, and even the chance to debut! You may find that you enjoy one type of roleplaying far more than the other or you might find that you enjoy them equally. There is no wrong answer as long as you are continuing to develop your characters and plot with other members. However, we do require a profile be completely filled out and accepted even if you rarely intend to post on the forum.
